Health Risks from Disease Outbreaks in the Gaza Strip

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned of the risks of disease outbreaks due to the massive accumulation of waste in the Gaza Strip.
UNRWA stated that the war on Gaza has led to a significant buildup of waste, contributing to the spread of diseases. It explained that it continues to provide solid waste collection and removal services in all accessible areas, but this remains insufficient.
Municipalities in the Gaza Strip have repeatedly warned about the accumulation of hundreds of thousands of tons of waste between cities and residential neighborhoods.
The waste buildup is attributed to the Israeli occupation's prevention of municipal teams from accessing main landfill sites, which are usually located in the eastern areas of Gaza, far from densely populated neighborhoods. Additionally, the closure of border crossings and the blockade on aid and fuel entry into the Strip have worsened the situation.
