Vaccines on the Verge of Running Out in the Gaza Strip

Dr. Ahed Samour, Director General of Primary Health Care, warned that the stock of children's vaccines in the Gaza Strip is on the verge of depletion due to the ongoing closure of crossings and the prevention of vaccine entry. He confirmed that several essential vaccines have already run out months ago.

Samour explained that the polio vaccination campaign was planned to take place in two phases: the first phase was completed along with the first round of the second phase. However, the occupation prevented the entry of vaccines, raising the risk of the campaign's failure, as the scientific standards require that the time between the two rounds must not exceed four to six weeks.

He added that the Ministry prefers to maintain a one-year stock of vaccines, but the current supply is only enough for five more months. Continuing the closure will cause the stock to cross the red line, posing a real threat to the health of children in the Gaza Strip.
