Drone Attacks Gaza Aid Ship Off the Coast of Malta

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition to break the siege on Gaza announced that one of its ships was attacked by a drone off the coast of Malta in international waters, causing it to catch fire.

The coalition stated that volunteers from more than 21 countries, including prominent figures, were on board the ship carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza when an armed drone struck the front of the vessel twice, despite it being a civilian and unarmed ship. This led to a fire breaking out, causing significant damage to the hull and disabling the power generator, resulting in a blackout for the crew.

It is worth noting that since March 2, 2025, the occupation has prevented all aid trucks from entering Gaza, deliberately starving more than two million Palestinians. The Gaza Strip requires 600 humanitarian aid trucks daily.

The coalition emphasized that, under international maritime law and international conventions, Malta is obligated to act to ensure the safety of any civilian ship in distress near its territorial waters. They stressed that Malta's failure to respond and provide information about rescue efforts constitutes a violation of international law.
