Well-informed Palestinian sources have revealed that an important round of negotiations regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is expected to take place in the coming days. The talks are described as significant and could lead to a potential agreement, provided that all parties take firm and clear positions.
The sources told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that this round will address the proposals exchanged during the previous meetings in Cairo and Doha. The United States is expected to play a major role, with considerable pressure being placed on the Israeli government to reach a deal, as well as on the mediators to push Hamas into making further concessions.
These statements come in the wake of a report by Israel Hayom, which stated that the Israeli government had rejected the ceasefire proposal and announced the start of a wide-scale military operation in Gaza.
