Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the Israeli occupation’s Knesset has discussed a new bill allowing settlers to purchase land in the occupied West Bank, including inside Palestinian cities, and to establish settlements without Israeli oversight.
The Israeli Cabinet (Security Cabinet) approved a decision to register land ownership rights in Area C of the occupied West Bank for the first time since 1967. This decision contradicts international laws related to occupation and is expected to lead to the confiscation of Palestinian lands—particularly affecting those who struggle to prove ownership of their properties.
The newspaper quoted Dr. Yohanan Tzoreff, a researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University, saying that the bills and the Cabinet’s decision are “a form of unofficial annexation carried out by Israel,” adding that “sooner or later, Israel will be seen as a state that does not seek a resolution or peace.”
