Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated that Qatar, Egypt, and the United States are continuing their efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He added that there remains a fundamental gap between Hamas and the Israeli government that has not yet been bridged, and that all previous attempts to reach an agreement have been undermined by political maneuvers. He emphasized that Israeli bombardment is undermining the chances for peace, especially as its intensity increases despite Hamas's release of captive Idan Alexander.
Al Thani stressed that the war in Gaza can only end through diplomacy.
