Agence France-Presse (AFP) has revealed details of a new proposal presented by mediators for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
A Palestinian source familiar with the negotiations told AFP that the mediators’ offer—which is considered a development of the vision put forward by U.S. envoy Steve Weitkoff—includes the release of 10 Israeli hostages alive in exchange for a 70-day truce, a partial Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, and the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees, including hundreds with high and life sentences.
In a separate context, former U.S. President Donald Trump said he wants to end the war in Gaza as quickly as possible, according to his statements to reporters last Sunday before boarding Air Force One on his way back from New Jersey to Washington.
