Israeli occupation police have transformed occupied Jerusalem into a military barracks, amid a state of high security alert in preparation for securing the so-called "Flag March" on the anniversary of the occupation of the city's eastern part.

Occupation forces installed metal barriers around Bab al-Amoud (Damascus Gate) to secure the march and imposed strict measures on the access of Jerusalemites to the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Meanwhile, thousands of settlers performed Talmudic rituals in the Buraq Plaza west of Al-Aqsa.

Fakhri Abu Diab, a specialist in Jerusalem affairs, stated that the occupation seeks to assert its control and dominate the city, aiming to impose the flag of the Israeli entity and make native Jerusalemites feel like strangers in their own city.

He added: “This day will be a difficult one for Jerusalem, due to mass stormings, provocations, and the raising of the occupation’s flags under the protection and approval of the police.”
