The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar revealed, citing informed Egyptian sources familiar with the course of negotiations, that Cairo and Doha are witnessing intensive diplomatic contacts to solidify a ceasefire agreement, amid increasing indications that Hamas is nearing acceptance of the “Witkoff” proposal.

The sources told the newspaper that the negotiations have entered a sensitive phase requiring precise agreement on some technical and political clauses. They explained that the joint Egyptian-Qatari initiative is focusing on closing the remaining gaps, particularly regarding arrangements for the prisoner exchange, the timing of the ceasefire, and guarantees for implementation.
