Hamas announced that it has received a new proposal through mediators, presented by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, and that it is currently reviewing the offer.
According to informed sources, the proposal includes the release of 10 Israeli captives and the return of the bodies of 18 Israeli captives who died while in detention, in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners. The deal would be implemented in two phases over the course of one week.
The plan also proposes a 60-day ceasefire during which intensive negotiations would take place to reach a permanent agreement to end the war. If no final agreement is reached within this period, Israel would have the right to resume hostilities or continue negotiations in exchange for the release of additional captives.
The proposal further includes the resumption of humanitarian aid into Gaza under United Nations supervision.
This initiative is seen as a new attempt to break the deadlock in negotiations amid the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
