European Council President António Costa stated that the European Commission is preparing a legal report aimed at taking measures against "Israel", which is expected to be presented on June 23 to the EU Foreign Affairs Council.

According to press sources, the upcoming report could pave the way for partial sanctions against "Israel" without requiring full consensus from all member states, if it is determined that Israel is not complying with its human rights obligations under Article 2 of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

Costa said the situation in Gaza is absolutely unacceptable, adding:

“When you watch your news channels and read your newspapers, I think the conclusion you will come to is quite clear.”

It is worth noting that 17 out of the 27 EU member states have requested this legal report.
