Food Shortage in Gaza Expected to Reach Peak Levels by September

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP), both affiliated with the United Nations, have warned that 2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza are at risk of famine due to the ongoing genocide committed by the Israeli occupation in the Strip.

In a joint report, the two agencies confirmed that famine has reached a critical level because of the extreme difficulty in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza. The region has been classified as a “hotspot of extreme concern.” They explained that the severe food shortage could reach its peak in September.

The Gaza Strip is suffering a catastrophic humanitarian and relief crisis due to the closure of border crossings by the occupation since March 2, blocking the entry of food, medicine, aid, and fuel, while the Israeli army escalates the scale of the genocide in the besieged territory.
