Ambassadors of 6 European countries held a press conference after the ending of a periodic session by the Security Council on the status in the Middle East and the Palestinian cause. The ambassadors were from Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland and Norway. They stressed the illegality of the Israeli occupation’s settlements in the occupied lands of 1948. Nicolas de Riviere, UN Delegate to France, said, “According to the international law, the settlements are illegal. Our countries will not recognize any changes to the borders earlier than 1967 – including Al-Quds – except for the parts the Palestinian and Israeli parties agreed on”. The 6 ambassadors expressed their concerns over the occupation’s decision to tendering the construction of residential units in Givat HaMatos settlement between Al-Quds and Bethlehem (which will be added to 5000 settlement units whose construction was announced in October 14 and 15. The ambassadors also expressed their concerns over the wide-range demolition operations of more than 70 buildings in the northern valleys on November 3. They demanded the occupation to unmake the decisions and stop the settlement project. They warned against the construction of any settlement that would harm the aspiration for a Palestinian state that is inhabitable and geographically connected, or harm the two-state solution.
