Qatar's Al-Araby Al-Jadeed newspaper reported progress in the humanitarian aid file for Gaza, revealing that U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Wietkoff is expected to visit Doha this coming Friday or Saturday to announce the conclusion of a 60-day ceasefire agreement.
A well-informed source said Wietkoff will not arrive in Qatar until all negotiation points are agreed upon by the involved parties. The source expects the remaining issues to be resolved by Thursday and expressed optimism about a “major event” (positive and related to the negotiations) expected to occur the day after tomorrow.
One of the main sticking points in the talks remains Hamas’s demand for guarantees from Washington that war will not resume after the 60-day truce period ends.
