Stalemate in Gaza Ceasefire Negotiations

Agence France-Presse reported, quoting a Palestinian source, that ceasefire negotiations in Gaza are facing a deadlock due to the Israeli government's insistence on presenting a withdrawal map.

Israel’s Channel 12 stated that the Americans proposed to Hamas delaying the discussion on the withdrawal of Israeli forces until the end of the current negotiations. This move aims to prevent the talks from collapsing by shifting focus to other issues such as the list of Palestinian prisoners to be released and the distribution of humanitarian aid.

Sources confirmed that the matter is now on hold until the arrival of U.S. envoy Steve Wietkoff in the Qatari capital, Doha, in an effort to push the negotiations forward. Some key issues are still under discussion, including guarantees for the ceasefire, the framework for a prisoner exchange deal, and mechanisms for delivering aid and supplies to the Gaza Strip.
