The United Nations has warned that the fuel shortage in Gaza has reached "critical levels."
In a joint statement, seven UN agencies emphasized that fuel is the backbone of survival in Gaza. They stressed its essential role in powering hospitals, water systems, sewage networks, ambulances, and all aspects of humanitarian operations—as well as bakeries.
"Without fuel, everything stops," the agencies stated.
They warned that the ongoing shortage is exposing families to deadly disease outbreaks and pushing Gaza’s most vulnerable groups even closer to death.
The agencies concluded: "Fuel must be allowed into Gaza in sufficient quantities and on a regular basis to support life-saving operations."
