The Government Media Office in Gaza stated that the Israeli occupation targeted 112 sources for filling fresh water in the Strip, resulting in the deaths of more than 700 martyrs, the majority of whom were children.
In a statement, the office explained that the latest of these massacres was in Nuseirat Camp in the center of the Strip, where 12 Palestinians were killed, including 8 children.
It added that the occupation deliberately destroyed 720 water wells and put them out of service, depriving more than one and a quarter million people of access to clean water, and preventing the entry of 12 million liters of fuel per month—the amount necessary to operate the minimum number of water wells, sewage treatment plants, waste collection vehicles, and other vital sectors.
The office indicated that this blockade has caused an almost complete paralysis of water and sanitation networks and has worsened the spread of epidemics, especially among children.
