Israel’s Channel I24 reported that occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is holding a meeting today at his office with Defense Minister Israel Katz, Economy Minister Nir Barkat, and security chiefs to discuss a plan aimed at replacing the Palestinian Authority in the city of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank, with local and tribal leaders.

The channel explained that the meeting was initiated by Barkat, who believes that the response to some countries’ intentions to recognize the State of Palestine next September should be the dismantling and fragmentation of the Palestinian Authority, beginning with Hebron, which he claims shows a strong nucleus for separation from the Authority.

The channel added that if the plan succeeds in Hebron, it will be expanded to other areas, with the aim of transforming PA-controlled territories into scattered “emirates,” thereby eliminating the Palestinian political project.
