The Israeli occupation government is seriously considering annexing parts of the occupied West Bank in response to the imminent recognition of Palestine by several Western countries.

Axios reported that Israel’s next move will depend on President Trump’s position, who blocked the annexation of Israeli territories twice during his first term. Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to “Israel,” Mike Huckabee, told Axios that the administration has not yet determined its stance.

Some Israeli officials claim that the Trump administration will not oppose the annexation because it is extremely angry at the countries planning to recognize Palestine.

The occupation government and the United States are trying to deter these countries by imposing punitive measures against the Palestinian Authority and threatening to take harsher steps if they recognize the Palestinians.
