A human rights organization revealed that the occupation has established around 1,000 new checkpoints and gates in the occupied West Bank since the start of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

The Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission explained that the number of new checkpoints is unprecedented, including 916 gates, barriers, and walls, noting that the imposed restrictions have hindered Palestinians’ movement and directly affected their daily lives.

The checkpoints include metal gates at the entrances of villages and towns and between cities, where opening and closing times change irregularly, forcing some people to stay overnight with relatives or cross the checkpoints on foot.

The blocking of main roads between the northern and southern West Bank has forced three million Palestinians to use longer alternative routes, increasing travel times from 20 minutes to more than an hour.
