Israeli sources said to I24 that the Egyptian president Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi is seeking to host an Israeli Palestinian ‘peace’ summit with the occupation’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu and President Mahmoud Abbas attending so that Egypt can gain credit as the new US president Joe Biden takes over. The resumption of negotiations will benefit Egypt helping it return as a key player in the Middle East alongside the Gulf states. President Abbas will try to reposition the Palestinian cause after it had been cornered during Trump’s four-year term. Azzam Al-Ahmad, member in the executive committees in the PLO and Fatah, said that Jordan and Egypt adopted president Abbas’ vision regarding holding an international peace conference sponsored by the UN.
