Pregnant Woman Injured in Assault on Palestine Medical Complex

Dec 27, 2020 11:46 am

In a press release, the Minister of Health Mai Al-Kaila condemned the Israeli occupation’s assault on the Palestine Medical Complex and shooting of a pregnant woman with a metal bullet in her shoulder and a paramedic in his hand inside the Complex.

The occupation’s forces broke into the surrounding of the Complex and fired teargas and bullets at its arena. The woman and the paramedic were both injured.

Other patients and children suffocated, and an ambulance was damaged. The Minister said that the presence of patients with COVID-19 worsened the situation as their lives were endangered due to the teargas that was fired.

She also explained how the children and women survived a terrible night due to the sounds of bullets, sound bombs and teargas which were fired at the Complex.

Al-Kaila urged an immediate international intervention to protect the Palestinian people and hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its crime and violation of the International Law and humanitarian laws which dictate the protection of all patients, medical crews, health centers, and hospitals.

The Minister pointed to how this is the second assault the occupation’s forces carry out against hospitals in two days. Al-Dora hospital in Gaza had already been damaged by Israeli bombardment. Tens of sick children and their companions were terrified, and the hospital’s equipment was damaged.
