UN Demands Occupation to Stop Construction of Hundreds of Settlements in WB

The spokesperson of António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, expressed the latter’s concerns over the occupation’s decision to build 800 new settlement units, most of which are located in the center of the occupied West Bank.

Guterres also confirmed that the construction of settlements in the 1967 occupied Palestinian lands and east of Al-Quds is illegal and violates the International Law.

He explained that the settlements' expansion worsens the conflict between the occupation and the Palestinian people, depriving the people from exercising their right to self-determination.

It also hinders the establishment of a Palestinian state along pre-1967 borders. It also prevents the ending of the occupation.

He encouraged the occupation’s government to stop making such decisions for they hinder the achievement of peace and realization of the two-state solution.
