Yoav Limor, ‘Israeli’ expert, said in his article in Israel Hayom newspaper that the occupation’s government failed to push Hamas to conclude a prisoner swap deal and missed two opportunities to do so.
He expected that Hamas would reaffirm its position and that the occupation should have concerns over the hindered settlement efforts and the opportunities it had missed in making use of the coronavirus crisis in negotiations with Hamas.
Limor commented on the Iron Dome’s inability to stop a rocket that was fired from the Gaza Strip at the settlements near the Strip last Tuesday, and the army’s absence of official confirmation of the rocket launch.
They claimed that such confirmation would provide the resistance with information that could be used in the future. He said that it was too early to know whether the army’s statement is a change in policy or an attempt to avoid criticism for the rockets which are not deterred.
He also said that unlike the previous times, the army was careful to decide that a technical failure caused the launch.
He added that because there were not any details, everything was possible. It could be that Hamas intended to send a sign about different files; the humanitarian, health or economic conditions in the Strip – or even the prisoner swap deal. It could also be that another force that disagrees with Hamas decided to work alone, or that it was a result to lightning.
