Walla website reported that PM Benjamin Netanyahu seeks visiting the UAE and Bahrain before the Knesset elections, held on March 23, 2021, as part of his electoral campaign.

He also added that some UAE officials expressed their concerns over having such visit described as an intervention in the ‘Israeli’ elections, yet the UAE did not reject Netanyahu’s visit. Calls are made between the two in order to arrange for the visit.

Netanyahu’s visit to the UAE and Bahrain was delayed three times the past three months. His visits to Manama and Abu Dhabi were cancelled last November as requested by Bahrain. A similar visit by Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi was also cancelled.
