‘Al-Aqsa in Danger’ Sends Sheikh Salah to Solitary

Khaled Zabarqa, Sheikh Raed Salah’s lawyer, said in an interview with Al-Resala Net that the purpose of the renewed isolation of the Israeli occupation of the Sheikh was to vengefully exercise psychological intimidation against him for his activities in Al-Quds and the prisoners’ issues.

The lawyer stated that the occupation deems the ‘Al-Aqsa in Danger’ slogan as the reason behind the Palestinian youth’s resistance against the occupation, noting that the Court was trying to link this slogan to the operations; ignoring the real cause of Israeli practices against prisoners and sacraments.

He added that there is another reason for isolating Sheikh Read which is the occupation’s concerns over his interaction with prisoners as an influential and leading figure which would affect their conditions in prisons.

The so-called 'Israeli Peace Court' in Haifa, in February 2020, sentenced Sheikh Salah to 28 months in prison. It alleged his incitement of violence and support for a banned group, referring to the Muslim Brotherhood.

For decades, the occupation has continued to hunt down the Sheikh through arrests, home detention, travel bans, denial of access to Al-Quds, prevention of prayer at Masjid Al-Aqsa and other punitive measures.
