Hamas’ Political Bureau Chief continued his tour abroad to some Arab and Islamic countries in order to strengthen the relations between the Movement and such countries. Recently, Hamas has faced unprecedented enmity from the west. However, the political status quo of the Israeli occupation is considered the weakest since 1948. Its hesitation to take measures against the Palestinian resistance, unlike before, is living proof.

The political leadership of the occupation has become in a state of confusion, forced to take measures against Hamas’ recent activities and unleash of popular resistance. For example, people have started throwing explosive balloons at the occupied lands. As a result, the occupation forces assigned a special unit from Gaza Division to observe the balloons and shoot them before they land.

Gaza Strip

It seems clear that Haniya’s tour has failed as he gave the military wing of his Movement the green light to execute military maneuvers to show their readiness for a wide-range battle with the occupation forces. Naftali Bennett, Israel’s Minister of War, stated that his forces are preparing for a wide-range military operation against the Palestinians. In addition, Benjamin Netanyahu, the occupation’s Prime Minister, threatened Hamas with a terminal strike should Hamas continue to throw rockets and explosive balloons. The occupation also published a list of names of the military leadership controlling the military structure in Gaza. 

The list targets influential political and military figures, which means the target could be an important military leader who has a say in the political and military decisions. The occupation aspires to terminate Mohammed Al-Deef, General Commander of Qassam Brigades; and Ziad Nakhala, Jihad’s Political Bureau Chief. Should this happen, Hamas and Jihad will be severely affected.

Yahya Al-Sinwar, Hamas’ Chief in Gaza, is a third figure who has embarrassed the occupation with his powerful decisions in the Movement which have weakened Israel’s deterring forces against the Palestinians.

West Bank

The West Bank is key to initiating an Israeli aggression on Gaza. Donald Trump’s announcement of the Deal of the Century has made the West Bank a raging fire against the occupation forces, which will not stand and watch the West Bank erupt. In fact, the forces could unleash its wrath on Gaza as they consider Gaza the main engine for powering up resistance in Gaza and the occupied lands.

Following are indicators of the Israeli military readiness and Hamas’ precaution:

• Haniya stopped his tour, settled in Doha, and did not return to Gaza as was agreed upon with the Egyptian Intelligence.
• Uneasy calm has prevailed in Gaza. It could be the lull before the storm, and the occupation forces could respond to the explosive balloons with random bombing of some locations of the resistance.
• The political and military leaders of Hamas and Jihad have been keeping a low-profile in Gaza; especially Hamas’ Chief Yahya Al-Sinwar.
• Egypt’s delegation was enraged as it arrived in Gaza with threats, and left on the same day with threats from Hamas’ leadership.
• The West Bank has been on fire. Several operations have been carried out against the occupation forces. 5 Palestinians were martyred in less than 48 hours which enraged the Palestinians in the West Bank.
