The Israeli occupation has witnessed a political crisis throughout three rounds of elections. The different parties of the occupation could not win enough seats (61) in the Knesset nor were they able to form a unity government due to the ideological and political differences among them.

The candidates in the elections are Netanyahu, the current PM and representative of the Right Bloc (Shas, United Torah Judaism, and Yamina); Benny Gants, representative of the Left Bloc (Blue and White, and the Labor-Gesher-Meretz alliance) and the Joint List. However, the Israeli public was able to conclude the results in the third round of the elections.

Insight of the Situation

The Israeli occupation’s state is based on the belief of ‘the state’s interests outweigh the public’s interests’. In the third round of elections, the Israeli public has proven its presence, especially after the political crisis they survived and which had prevented a lot of work from being carried out such as the military plan of Afif Kokhafi, Chief of the General Staff.

The results of the last poll showed that the Right Bloc won 58 seats while the Left Bloc only won 55 seats. Therefore, Netanyahu celebrated his victory without waiting for the final results.

Observing Netanyahu’s electoral campaign, one would see that it disregarded the accusations made against him, and the results showed that the Israeli public is not much influenced by the corruption of figures so long as they remain loyal to ‘Israel’ hence Netanyahu’s victory is explained.

The wittiest part about the campaign was normalizing openly with the Arab states, unlike before. In addition, Trump’s announcement of the American ‘Deal of the Century’ made Netanyahu’s winning seem inevitable. This indicates the following:

  • The majority of the Israeli public’s approval of Netanyahu despite his 11 years in office and the corruption and bribery charges against him, and the Zionist Lobby’s approval of him in America.
  • The great interest of the Israeli public, electing Netanyahu, in normalization with neighboring Arab countries as it influences the people in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
  • Netanyahu’s status in ‘Israel’ despite the corruption and bribery charges against him. The number of seats he received was similar to that of Sharon, when he was at his peak, with only one seat less.
  • The Left Bloc’s collapse and restriction in ‘Israel’ which would lead to its gradual withdrawal from the political arena. Israel is now at the risk of having an extreme ideology due to the Right Bloc’s control of the political arena. It could make decisions that would endanger the lives of the ‘Israelis’.
  • The more the normalization is, the more votes the candidate receives. This shows Netanyahu’s different political perspective from his predecessors.

The abovementioned points indicate the collapse of some of the main and core parties in ‘Israel’; the Labor Party is one example. This Party is considered the founding party of the ‘State’ and it belongs to the Left Bloc. This reflects the existence of a great political crack in ‘Israel’, which would affect the joint-decision-making aimed for the greater good of ‘the State’.

Donald Trump’s announcement of the details of the ‘Deal’ was only to help Netanyahu rise to power since he shares Trump’s the same American, dreaming mentality.

Some of the items, like annexing the Jordan Valley, in the Deal will not be carried out, and should they be so it would be in secret. Any attempts of the sort would result in Arabs’ uprisings especially among Palestinians and Jordanians.

‘Israel’ will not waste the time and efforts it has allocated for the normalization with Arab countries and redirect its efforts towards oppressing a new Intifada or escalation.

The idea will continue to be on the Israeli agenda, but it will not be in effect in real life unless the lands are sold to the occupation. This is the only and safest option to silence the peoples should they object through their governments.

Impact of Netanyahu’s Victory on the Palestinians

The victory of the Right Bloc will both positively and negatively impact the Palestinians. The Israeli Army is already threatening to carry out a wide-range military operation, especially that the Israeli Ministry of War will still be led by Naftali Bennett, who is a Right extremist.

Nevertheless, some financial facilitations will be offered to the Palestinian people; such as allowing them to work in the occupied lands, allowing in some funds for developmental projects, and building the infrastructure of the Gaza Strip. This, however, will be bound to the approval of the Shabak which will exploit the Palestinian workers’ needs to recruit them as spies.

Finally, ‘Israel’ will expand its settlements in the West Bank and will annex some Palestinian villages to increase the area under its control
