Occupation State is just Far from any Endeavors to Start a New War

The United States sent a message to the Israeli occupation, the Palestinian Authority, Jordan and Egypt in which it confirms the importance of maintaining calm in the upcoming period, and preventing any new escalations in the region.

This message comes amid the fear of the repetition of last Ramadan's events in the holy city of Al-Quds. However, the alleged temple groups, the colonial settlers of the Religious Right mainstream, and the leaders of the Colonial Religious mainstream deliberately insist on performing provocative marches in the old town, and performing Talmudic rituals in the yards of Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa over the 'Jewish holidays'.

The U.S. administration is almost entirely busy in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on one side, and in achieving a nuclear agreement with Iran on the other side. It is keen to stay away from any other escalations in the priority regions for the American strategy, and the areas exposed to explosion such as the occupation state and the Palestinian lands.

The security Israeli institutes recommended to reduce tension and further escalation in Al-Quds during the holy month, decrease the settlers' provocations, and prevent the leaders of the Extremist Religious Right wing from breaking into Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa. Nonetheless, the extremist rightest parties participating in the governmental coalition and the opponent parties, specially Likud and Haredi, provide a specific space for the settlers' movements, their attacks and provocations in the holy city and the yards of Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa.

Despite the threats of the chairman of the General Staff about Gaza, the political leadership had realized the emerging international situation before it received the U.S. message. It is even more worried than the United States lest the situations explode, for many reasons. Most importantly:

  • The tense situation in the West Bank, which is already flaming due to many years of accumulated violations, has become on a brink of a volcano that might explode at any moment.
  • The fear from the 1948 occupied Palestinian lands, which stand ready for an explosion in Gaza or West Bank and prepare for standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people in the 1967 occupied lands.
  • The Jordanian people's obsessions, as they are more affected than the other Arab nations regarding what is happening in the holy city amid a tense political climate and harsh economic conditions.
  • The fear of that Lebanon would enter the confrontation line in case any escalations broke out in the occupied lands, which might lead to an unaccounted wide regional war.
  • The Zionist leadership has given a high priority for Iran, its nuclear program, the Iranian-American return to the 2015 agreement, and how to confront the danger of the Iranian unmanned planes; which have become an obsession to the occupation state.

The Zionist leadership well realizes that the resistance factions in Gaza are not concerned about triggering a new war over the city for many reasons that there is no need to talk about now. However, the situations might develop in the West Bank or Gaza in which Gaza cannot remain neutral. Thus, the Zionists pursue not to break out a confrontation.

It is clear that the occupation state seeks calm through adopting and implementing several procedures in the latest period in Al-Quds and West Bank. It ceased the forced displacement of four families from Al-Sheikh Jarrah, and allowed a bigger number of Muslims to visit Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa during the holy month of Ramadan compared to the previous years. It also has not imposed yet a complete closure on the West Bank in some Zionist holidays.

Hence, the challenge remains in how to invest the occupation state's reluctance in going through an armed confrontation in Gaza or West Bank due to the regional international status that rejects any new wars in Palestine, and the Zionist inner conditions in favor of the Palestinian cause or the besieged Gaza.
