Al-Quds: Flag March and Repeated Failure

Dr. Samir Zaqout, a political researcher

I wanted to start my article with what Tamim Al-Barghouti said about the Israeli occupation governments' failure. He said that the occupation's reason behind assassinating Shireen Abu Aqleh not because she exposes its crimes, but because it exposes its ongoing, repeated failures in front of the Palestinian people. Everything Israel does is repeated and failure. Israel, as an idea, is neurotic; a mental disease, as the former government collapsed due to its war on Gaza. Then, the new government came and repeated the attacks on Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, thus, it decided to kill whoever dislocses its failure.

This leads me to say that Al-Quds is in the heart of history. It is more than 5000 years old. We can say it is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is also an Arab city built by the Jebusites more than 5000 years ago; even before the appearance of Judaizm and Moses – peace be upon him.

Why Zionists insist on Judaizing Al-Quds and implementing Flag March despite all the threats?

Out of my humble experience, I see that the current government is failure, as its predecessors. It is a weak version of Netanyahu's government, which is an extremist right-wing government that believes in that Israel has no place for the Palestinians, and whoever thinks that the ceasefire between Palestine and occupation after Al-Quds Sword Battle 2021 means that the war has ended is wrong. The battle is ongoing, but with various political tools, including the extremist settlers who only believe in a pure Jewish state.

Through the Flag March, the Israeli occupation's leaders and colonial settlers try to restore confidence in their defeated army. That's why they insist on achieving their goals that they failed to accomplish in the military war through the use of the extreme right-wing audience, which carries out daily raids to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa.

In May 2021, during Al-Quds Sword Battle, the colonial settlers felt mentally defeated when the Palestinian Resistance prevented them from implementing Flag March. They thought that they can take revenge of their mental defeat by using their military force and then decided to go through a distructive war on Gaza. They though that this war can help them achieve their goals in Al-Quds generally, and Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa in specific. Nonetheless, they were disappointed.

Their warplanes stopped bombing, and the Palestinian rockets stopped hitting the heart of the Zionist entity. The occupation's leaders felt defeated, and the Israelis felt ashamed. And, still, this feeling accompines them until this day; it is the feeling of mental defeat in front of their narcisstic feeling that the Israeli army is a great power and Gaza is small and besieged.

Insistence on carrying on the Flag March in the Occupied Al-Quds and dancing with the flags, passing through Bab Al-Amoud, refers to that Al-Quds Sword Battle, as the Palestinian Resistance called, haven’t finished yet. It is ongoing but with different tools, as we've mentioned above.

Accordingly, the colonial settlers challenged the ceasefire conditions and insist on rading Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa courtyards with protection from the occupation army. They continue to implement daily raids, as their goal is to prove for themselves, the Palestinians and the whole world that they want to achieve their goals and do not pay attention to any Arab, Islamic or international parties.

The occupation leaders, as well, try with their insistence to oppress and humiliate the Palestinian people in Al-Quds and in everywhere they are. The Flag March and its possible reprecussions is an attempt that aims to calm down the Israelis and convince them that "we are powerful and we weren't defeated in Al-Quds Sword Battle. We have the authority and power over Al-Quds." What is more important than all of that is the following question:

What if the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza responded to the Flag March in Al-Quds? Will the situations go to a new military operation?

I think that this is what the military leadership in the Israeli occupation state, led by General Aviv Kokhavi, seeks to. He aims to complete the task of destructing the infrastructure of the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza, especially as Israel was recently provided by rockets and bombs.

Then, we are in front of a new Al-Quds Swork Battle. The Resistance has to be ready, and the Arab and Islamic nations must prepare for defending Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, the Muslims' first Qibla.
