Dozens of Prisoners Embark on Hunger Strike

Jul 24, 2022 01:15 pm

Today, dozens of prisoners embark on an open hunger strike, in support of the hunger striking detainees Khalil Awawdeh, and Raed Rayan, rejecting their administrative arrest.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Club said in a press release that dozens of prisoners began a hunger strike while other prisoners of the Islamic Jihad Movement and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine would join them later.

This follows the failure of all attempts to reach a solution guaranteeing the freedom of the detainees Awawdeh and Rayan, as Awawdeh has been on an open hunger strike for more than four months; and Rayan for 109 days.

The Prisoners' Club stated that Awawdeh suffers from a critical situation that gets worse over time, and there is a risk of sudden death, while Rayan faces a serious health situation.
