In recent months, Israel has noted an erosion of the Palestinian Authority's standing, and ways to help it restore its strength are being considered, as the Head of Government Yair Lapid will hold a broad meeting to assess the situation with the heads of the security services in this regard. According to a political source, Israel depends on the security forces' success in confronting terrorism and crime into Israel, against the backdrop of the current deterioration in the West Bank.
Aviv Kochavi, the Chief of General Staff, said yesterday that "the uncontrol of the Palestinian Security Services over certain regions in Judea and Samaria constitutes a fertile ground for terrorism growth."
Recently, there have been serious discussions about ideas to assess the Palestinian Authority to solidify its standing, and deepen the economic assistance to Ramallah by increasing Palestinian labors' shares in Israel and injecting economic assistance to the Authority from various sources. However, according to political sources, participants in these discussion have found it difficult to determine whether those suggestions would affect the ground, and will be put forward more broadly in tomorrow's discussion.
Kochavi said that since the army has started the military operation on Gaza in August, 2022 after the wave of operations that penetrated the green line borders, 1500 wanted were arrested hundreds of operations were frustrated.
