The Pentagon published details of U.S. Secretary of Defense Lioyd Austin's telephone call with his Israeli counterpart Yoac Gallant.
The Pentagon said: "Secretary Austin urged his Israeli counterpart to de-escalate tension in the West Bank after the massacre committed by the occupation forces in the city of Nablus,” but in return affirmed the commitment of the United States to the security of the occupation entity and its right to defend its citizens.
Israel's Kan channel revealed an emergency international summit scheduled for next Sunday, led by the United States in Jordan, to try to find a formula to prevent security escalation with Palestinians before and during Ramadan.
