According to Haaretz newspaper, this year witnessed the highest number of Palestinian administrative detainees since the second Intifada, also known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada.
Notably, there were 971 administrative prisoners as of the beginning of this month, in the occupied West Bank, Al-Quds and1948-occupied territories. It also noted that 2076 administrative detention orders were issued last year, including 2016 orders that were considered by military courts, and that 90% of them were approved while only 1% were revoked, and 7% were reduced.
According to information from the Israeli prisons’ administration, the number of Palestinian detainees up until the beginning of this month reached 4765.
