Ministers Opposed Eastern Jerusalem's Developmental Plan

The Israeli occupation government opposed the developmental plan of eastern Jerusalem, which was expected to be ratified in the special session of Jerusalem Day.
Sources in the Israeli government said that Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich and a number of Israeli ministers opposed parts of the plan. On the contrary, several schemes serving rightest associations were approved. 
This plan aimed at improving education, employment and infrastructure in Jerusalem, at a cost of 2.1 billion NIS. However, it sparked protests in some governmental ministries thar were not informed about it, and they stated that it would lead to budget cuts if not coordinated with them. Informed sources involved in the negotiations with the Ministry of Finance estimated that this rejection was driven by political considerations and a lack of willingness to invest in the development of Palestinians in Jerusalem.
Ze'ev Elkin, former minister of Jerusalem, said that delaying the implementation of the eastern plan of Jerusalem is quite worrying, as if the government suspended investments in eastern Jerusalem, all exerted efforts will be helpless. He also criticized the minister of the right-wing government and said that he had hoped for a little more activity and goodwill from them in assisting Jerusalem.
