Soon, Israel will announce and celebrate the end of the military operation that started in Jenin on Monday. It will end after the achievement of the operation's objectives without any Israeli losses reported, except the slight injury of an Israeli soldier, appeasing the Israeli people.
Israel has worked for several weeks to legitimize the operation. Main titles regarding the need for a wide-scale operation and identifying Jenin as "the capital of Palestinian terrorism" have been rooted in the public opinion.
Israelis will return to their routine life after a few days, expecting the Palestinians to do the same - Licking their injuries, burying their martyrs and moving forward. They are accustomed to living under the occupation; they do not deserve to have any prospects.
Two decades ago, Israel launched a further broader operation against the resistance fighters in Jenin. Today, Israel fights those who were children at that time, or even were not born yet. The generation that was born following the Oslo Accords was raised on destruction since 2002, Israeli provocation, audacity, and international indifference. They are a generation of angry youth whose sole goal is to bear arms to resist the occupation. From the perspective of public opinion in Israel, an image of victory may have been achieved. However, every operation like this legitimizes renewed resistance, aggression, and bloodshed. What is happening today is fertile ground for the growth of a generation that sees no horizon or solution other than resistance.
