The Palestinian Cause: Between the Western Promise and the Arab Promise

103 years have passed since Balfour Declaration was made, yet nothing has changed since. The position of great countries and Arab regimes is still the same as they continue to support the tyrant and mistreat the victim. Nevertheless, there exists a difference between the first promise Britain and western countries had given to the Jews to establish their entity on the remains of the Palestinian people, and the second promise the Arabs are giving to the occupation to annihilate what remains of the Palestinian cause.

It is the year of publicly declaring vice. It has become important to destroy everything that could encourage the peoples to fight for freedom, independence and self-determination; especially after the turn-over of the Arab spring revolutions. The revolutions of the Palestinian people have always presented an example for struggle that looks forward to nail its stolen rights. It is the Israeli occupation’s greed to swallow more Arab lands, but why not? The Arab regimes are eager to normalize after seeing others had fallen in the trap of normalization although none became prosperous nor gained stability; examples are Egypt, the Palestinian Authority and Jordan.

The proof for this is what was published on Wikipedia in Arabic and English in an attempt to falsify history and give roots to the Jews in Arab countries. The title was ‘History of Jews in Bahrain, UAE, SA, and Oman’, and was made at the same time of the normalization campaign. This reveals the occupation’s true intentions which are:

  • Showing more control in politics, military and economy in the Arab world.
  • Blackmailing the regimes so that no national governments are formed in the future.
  • Killing the national spirit and preventing any revolution against tyranny.

Normalization is the last stage of the Israeli-American plan to end the Palestinian people’s resistance. This policy, if it continues, is a successful recipe for putting an end to the conflict existing between civilizations – one that is urgently needed by the west. However, the real question is: Will the Arab promise succeed to do what the western promise failed to?

The history of the Palestinian revolution exposes the failure of the western promise to end the Palestinian presence. As for the Arab promise, however, is too soon to foresee its success or failure. Nevertheless, preventing it from realizing depends on the following:

First: The unity of the Palestinian position; this is dependent on the Hamas-Fatah relations but it will remain unfulfilled as long as the Palestinian institutions are not formed, the political freedom is limited and the Palestinian steadfastness is not supported. It is imperative for the Palestinian powers to stand strong in the face of pressure and threats that aim to ruin the Palestinian reconciliation.

Second: Activation of resistance tools across entire Palestine. All Palestinian powers must engage under one umbrella as what happened with Hamas and Fatah’s agreement.

Third: Awakening of Arabs and Muslims around the world. This can only happen in cooperation with all the powers of the nation that refuse normalization.

The memory of Balfour will not be easy to the Palestinian people this year. It will be harder and worse if it fails to maintain its presence and protect its rights.
