In solidarity with people in the besieged Gaza Strip, dozens of Jordanians demonstrated in front of the UN office in Amman. They also demanded the office deliver a petition asking Israel to lift its siege on Gaza's ports.
Participants in the stand-up assembly organized by Jordanian parties expressed their support for the tenacity of those besieged in the Gaza Strip, declared their support for Palestinians' unrestricted rights there, and urged finding solutions, including a marine outlet for the strip.
In his speech at the vigil, Wael Al-Saqqa, the campaign's leader, said that the goal of the "Open Gaza Ports" initiative was to demand the lifting of the blockade on Gaza. This was part of an international effort involving more than 20 Arab and European nations to draw attention to the suffering of the besieged Palestinians in the Strip.
