Qatari Ambassador Mohammed Al-Emadi, the head of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, stated that Qatar has successfully mediated and reached agreements between Gaza and the Israeli occupation to reopen the Beit Hanoun crossing for the entry of Palestinian workers into the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948.

The US agency quoted a Gaza official as saying that the occupation had promised Hamas a number of concessions, including increasing the number of work permits issued to workers in Gaza, expanding the fishing zone off the coast of Gaza, and allowing the Gaza Strip to export more goods and import more equipment.

Officials said that a wave of diplomatic efforts in recent days, involving Egypt, the Israeli government, Qatar, and Hamas, has led to an unofficial agreement to defuse the situation.
