The Director General of Coastal Municipalities Water Utility, Munther Shublak, stated that the Israeli occupation’s power cutoff to the sea water desalination plant has reduced its production from 18,000 cubic meters per day to only 3,000 cubic meters, threatening a catastrophe for half a million people in central and southern Gaza.
Shublak explained that this reduction will disrupt water supplies to Deir al-Balah through distribution networks, leading to a complete halt in water delivery to displaced people in western Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis via tankers.
He urgently called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately to restart the plant and ensure access to clean water for residents.
