The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs announced that several prisoners in Israel’s "Megiddo" prison suffered from a health crisis a few days ago due to eating spoiled food provided by the prison administration.

The Commission clarified that the prison administration served the prisoners expired eggs, which led to severe health symptoms.

According to the Commission’s statistics as of early April, the number of prisoners and detainees in Israeli prisons exceeded 9,900, including around 400 children and 27 female prisoners, in addition to 3,498 administrative detainees.
The Commission also noted that 1,747 of the prisoners from the Gaza Strip have been classified by the Israeli Prison Service as “unlawful combatants”—a classification that does not include all Gaza detainees, particularly those held in army camps.
