The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights condemned the escalation of Israeli violations against Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, particularly in the Negev Desert Prison.
The center indicated that the Israeli prison authorities are detaining prisoners in the Negev prison in worn-out tents that do not meet the minimum international standards for detention conditions. They are deliberately continuing a policy of medical neglect, which has led to the spread of diseases among the detainees, most notably scabies, without providing treatment or taking the necessary preventive measures.
The occupation currently holds 2,400 detainees in this prison, including around 600 detainees from the Gaza Strip, held under the Unlawful Combatant Law, which violates the right to fair trial guarantees.
