Israeli occupation forces have detained hundreds of Palestinian residents at the entrances of the Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps as they attempted to enter and retrieve belongings from their homes, which are under threat of demolition—despite prior permission granted for their entry.
According to local sources, Israeli forces pursued residents around the perimeters and entrances of the camps, firing live bullets and stun grenades indiscriminately and heavily. A journalist was injured by shrapnel in the leg, and dozens of young men were taken for field interrogations, with a photojournalist among those arrested.
The Israeli army had issued demolition notices for 106 buildings and homes within the two camps within just 24 hours. The ongoing military assault, now in its 96th consecutive day, has forced the displacement of over 4,200 families—comprising more than 25,000 residents—from the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps. The assault has completely destroyed 396 homes and partially damaged 2,573 others, in addition to sealing off the camps’ entrances and alleyways with earth mounds.
