A Palestinian fisherman was martyred and others injured after Israeli naval forces opened fire on fishing boats off the northern coast of the Gaza Strip.
Local sources reported that five fishermen, including a child, were wounded by Israeli gunfire before one of them later succumbed to his injuries.
Zakaria Bakr, head of the General Union of the Fishing Sector, said the Israeli army is deliberately targeting fishermen, noting a sharp increase in attacks since the occupation resumed its aggression on Gaza. These attacks have resulted in casualties and severe damage to the remaining fishing equipment.
More than 200 fishermen have been killed since the start of the genocide on Gaza in October 2023, including 60 who were martyred while working at sea.
