U.S.-Israeli Relations Deteriorate

The once-described “special relationship” between the United States and Israel has significantly deteriorated in recent times.

Israeli expert on American affairs, Professor Abraham Ben-Tzvi, stated that U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "are rapidly heading toward a head-on collision over major regional and global issues of critical importance."

He added that "a swift end to the war in Gaza is, for Trump, a necessary step in shaping and cementing his legacy as a tough leader and a skilled negotiator, aiming to reshape the entire Middle East under American dominance — a strategy based on deals between Washington and the Gulf states. However, this vision lacks a Saudi-Israeli normalization, which remains difficult to achieve due to several factors, most notably Netanyahu’s insistence on continuing the war in Gaza."
