The spokesperson for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Palestine, Kazzem Abu Khalaf, stated that 27 children are being killed every day since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

Abu Khalaf added that when including the number of injured, the daily toll of child victims reaches 83 children—either killed or wounded—over the course of the 20-month-long ongoing war. He emphasized that no other place in the world sees this number of child casualties daily.

He also explained that tens of thousands of children are suffering from acute malnutrition and are in urgent need of treatment. Additionally, more than 40,000 children have become orphans, with the number expected to rise.

Abu Khalaf stressed that children in Gaza will need many years to recover, not only from physical injuries but also from the severe psychological and emotional trauma they have endured.
