Former UN official and Senior Adviser on the Palestinian issue at the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), Lex Takkenberg, has called on international leaders to impose deterrent sanctions on Israel.

Takkenberg emphasized the need for the international community to withdraw investments from companies that support the Israeli economy and enable the continuation of the war.

He affirmed that "Israel's starvation policy since the beginning of the aggression constitutes a war crime and is being used as a weapon of genocide."

He also stressed that "recognizing the occurrence of genocide in Gaza imposes legal obligations on states, including the imposition of sanctions and the cessation of military and economic support to Israel."
