UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health, Tlaleng Mofokeng, stated that speaking of a “right to health” in the Gaza Strip has become impossible under the weight of the deadly attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation for the past 21 months.
In a press statement during her participation in the 59th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, she explained that the humanitarian situation is worsening daily.
She stressed that “it is no longer possible to talk about the right to health in Gaza in any form, due to the widespread Israeli violations against Palestinians.”
She added, “The situation is getting worse by the day. We now have food aid that is supposed to save people from hunger and imminent death, but it is being used by the occupation as a means to target unarmed civilians who are simply trying to get food for themselves and their families.”
