The Jerusalem Governorate has warned of a serious and systematic escalation by extremist Temple Mount groups targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In an official statement, the governorate said that a program published by one of the so-called "Temple" groups includes organized incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque over an entire month. These incursions are planned to involve 12 rabbis and heads of Jewish religious institutes under religious and racist pretexts, claiming it is to “thank God for the miracles of the war,” as they put it.

While these rabbis have previously stormed Al-Aqsa individually, their collective action this time signifies two major developments: the violation of the Chief Rabbinate’s prohibition on entering the mosque area due to impurity laws, and the likelihood that each rabbi will bring followers and encourage a wider settler participation.

The statement also noted that this large-scale gathering in a short period is a prelude to a more severe aggression expected at the beginning of August, in connection with the so-called “Tisha B’Av” or “Destruction of the Temple” commemoration.
