Yousef Al-Zaq, known as the world’s youngest former prisoner, was martyred along with three members of his family in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential apartment in central Gaza City.
Yousef was born in prison in 2008, while his mother, Fatima Al-Zaq, was held in Israeli detention. He endured harsh conditions during his early life in prison, suffering from repeated illnesses amid a lack of proper medical care.
In 2008, Fatima and her son were released as part of the "Wafa al-Ahrar" prisoner exchange deal.
Since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, 31 released and exiled former prisoners have been killed, most of them from the Wafa al-Ahrar deal and others from the exiled group of the Church of the Nativity.
